Who is that good looking Snowman on Moose Pond?
Any weekend you will find folks ice fishing,
snowshoeing,
snowmobiling
or skiing on Moose Pond in Bridgton. This weekend you
will see an 8 foot impeccably dressed snowman doing absolutely nothing. Well he
is actually very busy raising funds to support the
programs at the Bridgton Community Center. We call him Frosty.
Frosty was designed to represent the Bridgton Community Center’s ICE OUT contest. The Bridgton Community Center’s Board of Directors dreamed up ICE OUT as a yearly fundraising event. The goal is to have a lot of fun, raise money for the BCC and provide a grand prize of ½ the net income from ticket sales. Tickets and rules are available at the Bridgton Community Center, 15 Depot Street (behind Reny’s), Little Mountain Store, Hayes True Value Hardware and the Chamber of Commerce Information Center.
Frosty and his platform were designed by Fred Hammerle, retired engineer and resident of Bridgton. Nelle Ely, a BCC Board Member, is the artist who gave Frosty that impeccable look and Steve Collins and Mike Tarantino, also BCC Board Members, constructed this creation under the watchful eye of its designer. On Thursday, March 6 Frosty started living on Moose Pond. Collins and Tarantino with the assistance of Leigh Hayes, BCC Board member, and volunteers Josh Hopkins and Pat Hayes placed Frosty on his icy home.
A total of 4000 tickets have been printed and need to be sold by April 1st. Obviously, the size of the prize depends on the ticket sales. Have some fun and support a great organization. The Bridgton Community Center provides multi-generational programs and meeting facilities for the greater Bridgton Community. If you would like more information about the Community Center or ICE OUT, contact Lorraine or Carmen at 647-3116.
