Mission
The Mission of the Senior Transportation Program
is to provide a reliable, volunteeer based,
sustainable transportation service
to Bridgton area seniors and disabled residents
for a donation.
************************************************************************************
How does it work?
First, the rider calls STP office.
The coordinator e-mails or calls drivers.
The driver decides which request is right for him or her.
Driver confirms to rider that he or she will be picked up at agreed time.

Transportation Requests
If you need transportation and have tried all other sources the Senior Transportation Program can take you to your physician or physical therapy, and shopping for a donation.
As soon as you know that you have an appointment, please call us to reserve a ride. We will take the information and log it. The day before the appointment, the driver will call you to confirm time and location.
If you need a ride that is not of medical nature, we can take you too.
For reservations all 647-2483 or e-mail to stops@gwi.net.

Fares
In order to make the program sustainable we have to collect fares. This is not a taxi service, but an organization of volunteers that is willing to help their neighbors who are unable to find transportation. Our drivers are only reimbursed for their mileage.

Bus to Portland and Windham
This service is not currently available.

Fund-raising
The Senior Transportation Program does not receive any federal or state funds to support the program. We rely heavily on the support of citizens and organizations. Our drivers are volunteers who get reimbursed only for the mileage they drive with a rider.
Our biggest fund-raiser is "Walk for a Ride." Walkers find sponsors who will pay what they can to support the program. The more walkers we have, the more sponsors we can approach. Walkers are welcomed from any town or group.
"Your donation will help us to drive a senior!"
"Walk for a Ride" will be held on September 15, 2007
To participate, please call 207-647-2483 or e-mail to stops@gwi.net

Donations
We are grateful for every donation!
The Senior Transportation Program is relying on grants and donations. Fares collected are only 10% of our costs.
If you would like to make a donation, please send a check to:

Drivers Needed
Every week our drivers go out to help someone. There is pride and joy in what they are doing. Volunteering your time and your car for one or two rides a week is not hard, but it has an unbelievable reward.
We need more volunteer drivers, especially in the towns of Lovell, Brownfield, Casco and Sebago.
Our drivers determine when they want to drive by signing up for the rides they can do, preferably in their own towns.
Drivers are reimbursed at a rate of $0.35/mile.
Our monthly meeting is the first Monday of each month.
Please, come and join us and experience the joy of volunteering, too.
